Carbon Steel Bolts in ASTM A307 (Grades A and B)

Scope

ASTM A307 is the standard specification for carbon steel bolts, studs, and threaded rods of 60000 PSI tensile strength in sizes from ¼ inch to 4 inches in diameter. A307 bolts are available in two grades, A and B, offering different mechanical and chemical properties for specific applications.

These bolts are designed, manufactured and tested to comply with the standards set by ASTM A307 for chemical composition, hardness, tensile strength, yield point, elongation, and dimensional accuracy.

Grades

  • Grade A – headed bolts, threaded rods and bent bolts with a minimum tensile strength of 60 ksi for a wide range of general-purpose applications.
  • Grade B  - heavy hex bolts and studs with a tensile strength of 60 to 100 ksi for flanged joints in piping systems with cast iron flanges.

The properties tables below provide more information on the differences between the grades.

Applications

Anchor bolts provide secure foundations in a wide range of industrial, mechanical and structural applications. They are designed to anchor or support structures and industrial equipment in environments where durability and stability is essential. Common applications include concrete forms, columns, foundations and pads.
